Families are for Everyone
Many children are currently in the foster care system awaiting permanent placement with an adoptive family. Some have been abused, neglected, or abandoned, leading to the termination of parental rights by the court. Many of the children have special needs because of the emotional scars of having suffered abuse and neglect.
In Michigan, more than 75 percent of the children waiting for families are African-American. Many of these children are of school age ranging from 6 to 17 years old. Often there are groups of brothers and sisters who need adoptive homes. Staff try to place these children together whenever possible.
